The Iraqi Parliament is set to meet on Monday, 14 April 2025, to vote on five bills, the most notable of which being the Halabja Provincialisation Bill. A member of Parliament stated: "We hope that the Halabja Provincialisation Bill will be passed during this session."
Chro Hama Sharif, a member of the Iraqi Parliament from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc, told PUKMEDIA: "After the PUK bloc boycotted the Iraqi Parliament sessions in protest against the failure to vote on the Halabja Provincialisation Bill, declaring that they would not participate in any session until the bill was passed, it was determined that the Halabja Provincialisation Bill would be on the agenda for the next Monday's Parliament session."
"We hope to pass the bill during this session, as the people of Halabja deserve it in acknowledgement of their sacrifices and suffering," she added.
The Iraqi Parliament had previously completed the second reading of the bill, with only the final vote remaining. However, the bill is yet to be passed due to obstructions from the Arab blocs, who have cited various excuses, despite their previous commitment to approving the legislation.
