PUK President meets Iraqi PM in Baghdad.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, Prime Minister of Iraq, in Baghdad.
The two sides discussed recent developments in Iraq and the wider region, underlining the importance of keeping the country away from escalating tensions.
They also addressed the need for a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the ongoing disputes between Erbil and Baghdad. President Bafel urged the PM to ensure that political disagreements do not obstruct the disbursement of financial entitlements and salaries owed to employees in the Kurdistan Region.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the Constitution and prioritising the provision of services to citizens across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole.
PUK and Azm Alliance Leaders Meet to Address Political Process and Elections
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met in Baghdad with Mr Muthanna al-Samarrai, leader of the Azm Alliance.
In the meeting, which was also attended by Nizar Amedi, a member of the PUK Political Bureau, and Khalid Shwani, Minister of Justice in the Federal Government, discussions focused on the challenges currently facing the political process in Iraq and the wider region.
Both sides underlined the importance of fostering coordination and mutual understanding among political forces to safeguard the country’s security and stability.
They also exchanged views on the need to establish an appropriate environment for holding fair and transparent legislative elections in Iraq.
The leaders further stressed the necessity of safeguarding the rights of all Iraqi communities and upholding justice, in line with the principles established in the Constitution.
PUK, Fatih Leaders Discuss Political Cooperation and Upcoming Elections
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), held a meeting in Baghdad with Hadi al-Amiri, Leader of the Fatih Alliance.
During their discussions, both parties emphasised the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue among political factions in order to address ongoing challenges and safeguard the country from regional tensions and conflicts.
They reaffirmed their commitment to resolving outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution while upholding the rights of all parties.
President Bafel, for his part, underscored the necessity of reactivating dialogue between political parties and adhering to existing agreements. He noted that the current circumstances call for collective decisions aimed at achieving greater national objectives.
The two leaders also discussed the date for the Iraqi parliament elections, highlighting that political forces wish for free and transparent elections that genuinely reflect the will and aspirations of the people.
PUK President: PUK Pursues a Policy of Balance to Safeguard All Rights
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Dr Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, President of the Republic of Iraq.
During their meeting, the two leaders discussed political, security, and economic developments in Iraq and the wider region. They highlighted their commitment to shared visions and affirmed their support for a national initiative aimed at overcoming current challenges.
The discussion also covered the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq, with both parties expressing their dedication to ensuring fair and transparent elections that will reinforce national partnership and enhance the delivery of services to citizens.
President Bafel stressed the importance of adhering to constitutional and legal frameworks, stating, “The PUK pursues a policy of balance, and prioritises maintaining security and stability to safeguard the rights of all sides.”
He also extended his gratitude to President Rashid for his continued attention and follow-up regarding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, particularly in relation to salaries and the Kurdistan Region’s financial entitlements.
