Asayish Agency Seizes 30kg of Crystal Meth Bound for Türkiye

The Kurdistan Region Security (Asayish) Agency has announced the foiling of an attempt to smuggle 30 kilograms of crystal meth destined for Türkiye.
In a statement, the Security Agency said: “During a carefully executed operation, the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics, in coordination with the General Directorate of Asayish Operations and the Asayish Directorate of Checkpoints, successfully seized 30 kilograms of crystal meth.”
The statement continued: “On the night of 6 March 2025, acting on prior intelligence and close surveillance by our forces along the borders of the Kurdistan Region up to a checkpoint, a security operation was successfully carried out to prevent the smuggling attempt. The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect—a foreign national—who had intended to transport the drugs into Türkiye.”
According to the statement, the accused was detained by court order under Article 25 of the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law. The investigation remains ongoing.
