The second day of PUK's preparatory conference in Kirkuk.
The eighth preparatory conference for the second Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) forum is currently in its second day in Kirkuk. Today, various committees continue their work, gathering proposals and opinions from PUK members, compiling them into a single report, and submitting it to the Supreme Committee of the Second Forum.
Stran Abdullah, a member of the Supreme Committee for the Second PUK Forum, told PUKMEDIA: "The PUK Forum represents a new phenomenon for the party, both in the area and in the history of the political movement within the Kurdistan Region and Iraq."
He continued: "The PUK aims for the party's base to play a leading role in shaping its intellectual, political, and combative framework."
He further stated: "The eighth preparatory conference, currently taking place in Kirkuk, is of great importance because the PUK places significant value on Kirkuk Governorate. All PUK cadres are participating enthusiastically, presenting their proposals and views to shape the programme for the next phase of the PUK."
Abdullah added: "As you are aware, the region is undergoing substantial changes. The Kurdistan Region is on the verge of forming a new government, while Iraq is heading towards parliamentary elections. Additionally, the Kurdish issue in Syria and Turkey is seeing major developments and is moving towards peace. The PUK and President Bafel Jalal Talabani have a crucial role in promoting peace in the Middle East. They are following the path of the late President Mam Jalal, who sought to address problems through peace and dialogue."
He explained: "The conferences aim to prepare for the second expanded PUK Forum, which will be attended by Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK. They will also work towards reformulating and discussing a new vision, as well as preparing the PUK for a new phase in political life and governance within the Kurdistan Region. PUK cadres, influential figures, and various community groups will participate in these conferences."
For his part, Nidham Jabari, a member of the Organisational Structure Committee, stated in a special interview with PUKMEDIA: "The committees are continuing their work at the eighth preparatory conference of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Kirkuk for the second consecutive day."
He added: "The participants at the conference are continuing to discuss and prepare recommendations and proposals to present to the Supreme Committee of the Second PUK Forum today."
He further explained: "The proposals and recommendations focus on the organisational structure and the PUK's policy for the upcoming phase at both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq levels, in addition to the tasks the party will face in the next phase."
Jabari concluded: "The eighth conference in Kirkuk has established seven committees, four main and three subcommittees, to address all matters related to party affairs. We will submit the final reports to the Supreme Committee of the Second PUK Forum today, Thursday."
