Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, welcomed Daniel Rubinstein, Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, who was accompanied by Steven bitner, US Consul General to the Kurdistan Region.

During their meeting, they discussed the process of forming the new government in the Kurdistan Region. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the agreement between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) on the final draft of their joint vision and expressed his optimism that a final agreement to establish a strong, effective, and unified government was imminent.

He stated that both the PUK and the KDP share the view that an effective, service-oriented government suited to the current circumstances is essential, ensuring improved services for citizens.

Another key topic of discussion was the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad. In this regard, Deputy PM Talabani underscored the importance of swiftly resuming oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, noting that the Kurdistan Regional Government is working to resolve all issues and obstacles hindering this process. Both sides agreed that unity among Kurdish parties in Baghdad would play a crucial role in accelerating the resolution of disputes between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.
