PUK Spokesperson Saadi Ahmed Pire.
Saadi Ahmed Pire, Spokesperson of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), announced that the meeting between the PUK President and the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister covered a number of crucial strategic topics, including how to manage the Kurdistan Region's future governance, highlighting that this understanding will correct the course of governance.
Pire told the media that the meeting between the PUK President and the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister is very important for the issues that have not been resolved yet.
He added: "How to manage the Kurdistan Region's future governance was one of several crucial strategic topics covered in the meeting between PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. This understanding certainly will correct the course of governance."
"The issues agreed upon by both sides will be submitted to the delegations of both sides in the future and a final decision will be made on them," he said.
PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met in Pirmam, Erbil, on Sunday, 16 March 2025, after which the two sides held a joint press conference, announcing that they both aim for forming a government to serve.
Kurdistan parliamentary elections were held in October of last year, and the Kurdistan Region is currently awaiting the formation of its new cabinet.
It is anticipated that the two victorious parties, the PUK and the KDP, will come to an agreement to form the next government because a number of parties have already stated that they will function as opposition parties in the parliament.
