Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani announced on Friday, 14 March 2025, the elimination of Abdallah Makki, one of the world's most dangerous terrorists whose known as Deputy Caliph.

"The Iraqis continue their remarkable victories against the forces of darkness and terrorism. The heroes of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, with support and coordination from the Joint Operations Command and the International Coalition forces, successfully eliminated the terrorist Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rufay'i, known as (Abu Khadija)," said PM Sudani in a statement on his official account on X.

"He held the so-called position of (Deputy Caliph), in addition to serving as the so-called Wali of Iraq and Syria, head of the Authorised Committee, and overseer of external operations offices," he said. "He was considered one of the most dangerous terrorists in Iraq and the world."

"We congratulate Iraq, the Iraqi people, and all peace-loving nations on this significant security achievement," he stated.

The Islamic State (ISIS) seized large swathes of Iraqi land in 2014, declaring a "caliphate" and killing thousands of people there before Baghdad declared victory in 2017. However, remnants of the terrorists are still active in the country, especially in the regions disputed between Erbil and Baghdad.

The terrorists ambush, kidnap, and extort both civilians and members of the security forces in the disputed areas, which stretch across several provinces, including Kirkuk, Nineveh, Diyala, and Saladin.

Security forces conduct frequent operations aimed at eliminating the remnants of the terrorists.
