Over 34 Million Iraqis Use Social Networks

According to the latest statistics published on "We Are Social" and "Meltwater," over 34 million Iraqis or 73.8% use social networking platforms, with TikTok topping the list, and then followed by Facebook.
According to data from "We Are Social" and "Meltwater", two of the world's leading digital data analytics companies, the number of social networking users reached 34.3 million, or 73.8 percent of the population in Iraq, up from 31.95 million last year.
Mohandad Habib al-Samawi, General Supervisor of Iraq's Digital Media Center (DMC), said: "The available data show shifts in the use of several social media platforms in Iraq, with some growing rapidly and others declining, reflecting changes in the digital landscape and platform users' behaviour inside its spaces."
The DMC releases the number of users for each platform this year, and in comparison to last year:
TikTok users reached 34.3 million, up from 31.95 million last year.
Facebook users reached 20.1 million, up from 19.30 million last year.
YouTube users reached 22.3 million, up from 22.80 million last year.
Instagram users reached 19.0 million, up from 18.25 million last year.
Facebook Messenger users reached 15 million, up from 15.70 million last year.
Snapchat users reached 18.5 million, up from 17.74 million last year.
X users reached 2.065 million, up from 2.055 million last year.
LinkedIn users reached 2.03 million, up from 1.9 million last year.
Ali al-Zuhairi, DMC co-founder and monitoring officer, affirmed the accuracy of these statistics, emphasising that they are derived from credible sources and sophisticated analytical tools. He stated that this comprehensive snapshot of Iraq’s digital landscape underscores a significant shift in how people connect, share, and consume content, reflecting broader global trends in social media usage.
According to the preliminary results of the latest population census, the population of Iraq is 45 million, 407 thousand, 895 people.
