The Iraqi parliament is set to resume its regular sessions on Saturday, 8 March 2025, to vote on and discuss several key draft laws.

Dr. Bryar Rashid, an MP from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc, informed PUKMEDIA that the sessions are restarting after a prolonged break caused by disagreements between political parties over a law concerning the Popular Mobilization Forces. He explained that the absence of certain blocs had made it difficult to meet the legal quorum, preventing the holding of sessions. As a result, the law related to the Popular Mobilization Forces will not be included in Saturday’s agenda.

The upcoming session will see votes on several important matters, though the Popular Mobilization Forces law will be postponed.

The last session of the Iraqi parliament was held on Sunday, 2 February 2025, when members voted on the draft law to amend the first federal budget law of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023-2025.
