Kurdistan VP: Enhancing Peshmerga's Military Capabilities is Important for Stability

Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, says that enhancing the military capabilities of the Peshmerga is important for the current stage and maintaining security and stability in the region.
Peshmerga officers tested several new heavy weapons on the training ground on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, in the presence of Vice President Sheikh Mustafa, United States Consul General Steven Bitner, Chief of Staff of the Peshmerga Ministry Brigadier General Issa Ozer, Commander of the Unit 70 Forces Lieutenant Colonel Omar Salih, and Commander of the Second Peshmerga Support Forces Lieutenant Colonel Mariwan Mohammed Amin.
The Vice President commended the International Coalition forces, particularly the United States, for their ongoing cooperation and support, as well as for providing the Peshmerga forces with advanced weapons.
He also emphasised that continuing training on these new weapons and technologies will advance the Ministry of Peshmerga and the Kurdistan Peshmerga's military capabilities and improve the art of fighting and defending.
