The Iraqi Ministry of Oil confirmed on Saturday, 22 February 2025, the completion of procedures to resume exporting oil produced in the Kurdistan Region via Ceyhan Port according to the mechanisms set forth in the Iraqi Budget Law and its amendment and within the production ceiling specified for Iraq in OPEC.

The ministry said in a statement that the procedures for resuming the export of oil produced in the Kurdistan Region via Ceyhan Port have been completed according to the mechanisms set forth in the Budget Law and its amendment and within the production ceiling specified for Iraq in OPEC.

According to the statement, the ministry requested the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to hand over the quantities produced from the operating fields to the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company to start exporting via the Iraqi-Turkish pipeline and Ceyhan Port in accordance with the contracts signed with the nominated companies.

On 25 March 2023, the Kurdistan Region's oil exports were halted after the Iraqi government won its case against the KRG in the International Court of Arbitration in Paris. Two years after the decision, the Iraqi parliament voted to amend the budget law on 2 February 2025. The amendment allowed the resumption of the Kurdistan Region's oil exports.
