The second preparatory conference begins in Duhok.
Today, Thursday, 20th February 2025, the second preparatory conference for the second Forum of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) began in Duhok Governorate.
At the start of the conference, Fahmi Burhan, the official in charge of the secretariat for the second Forum of the PUK, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests and said: "The PUK places great importance on the Badinan region, a principle established by the late President Mam Jalal, and one that President Bafel Jalal Talabani continues to follow. This conference will run for three days, during which specialised committees will be formed to discuss the recommendations."
He stated: "The committees will focus on the organisational structure, future policies of the PUK, its relations within the region, as well as the roles of women and youth within the ranks of the PUK, along with many other crucial matters."
As per the internal regulations established at the fifth PUK Congress, the PUK Forum is an official, recurring event and a key platform for the party’s cadres. The first PUK Forum commenced on 12 March 2022, under the supervision of Qubad Talabani, and concluded on 31 May 2022, during which the PUK's policies across various areas were developed, becoming a cornerstone of the PUK’s overall strategy.
