Deputy PM Talabani Hopes for Peaceful Resolution of Kurdish Issue in Talks with US CG

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met today, Tuesday with Steven Bitner, the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

During their discussion, Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the visit of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) delegation to the Kurdistan Region, as well as the process initiated in Türkiye concerning the Kurdish issue. He expressed his hope that this time, the Kurdish issue in Türkiye would be resolved peacefully, bringing an end to war and violence.

Additionally, the two sides addressed the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region and the amendment of the federal budget law. In this regard, Qubad Talabani stated that discussions between the Region and Baghdad on implementing the budget law were progressing well. He noted that an Iraqi delegation had arrived in Erbil, and their meetings had been positive, with expectations of favourable outcomes.
