The Imrali delegation praises the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)'s stances in supporting the attempts for peace processes in Türkiye, confirming that the Kurds are united on the issue.

The Imrali delegation met with PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani,  Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, and the Iraqi First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed in Sulaymaniyah on Tuesday, 18 February 2025.

After the meetings, the Imrali delegation—which comprised Sirri Sureyya Onder, Pervin Buldan, and Keskin Bayindir—held a press conference in front of President Mam Jalal's mausoleum, where they honoured the late President Mam Jalal's contributions to the peace motion and the peaceful resolution of issues, and declared: "We value President Mam Jalal's contribution to the peace process in Turkiye, and his successors, Bafel Jalal Talabani and Qubad Talabani, have now significantly contributed to the peace and stability of North Kurdistan (the Kurdish parts of Türkiye)."

He added: "Today is a significant day for the Kurds, who collectively support peace, and we are grateful to the PUK, especially President Bafel, Qubad Talabani, and Mrs. Shanaz, as their support of the peace process is significant. We also want to reiterate our appreciation for Mrs. Shanaz's positions on women's freedom."

Moreover, Bayindir said: "We express our gratitude to President Bafel Jalal Talabani for his support and backing for the peace process. We also reassure the public that all Kurdish political parties are united today in their support of the peace process and a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish issue."

He noted: "The Kurdish people are currently confronting major challenges, but today, all political parties and the Kurdish people have a common stance: they are in favour of peace and a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish issue."

He added: "Kurds share a common stance in preserving the peace process and its accomplishments. We applaud the PUK's national positions on the peace process. When we visited the Kurdistan Region's political parties, we found that they all shared a common stance on advancing the peace process."

He further stated that they have come to the Kurdistan Region and met with the PUK at the request of the imprisoned leader in Imrali, and that they will reveal the results of their meetings following their return to Türkiye.

The Imrali delegation, which consists of two lawmakers who have previously met twice with Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) since December last year, arrived in the Kurdistan Region's capital Erbil on Sunday, 16 February 2025. They met with the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) officials in Erbil.

The visit comes amid efforts to establish a fresh peace process between the Turkish state and the PKK. The DEM Party is mediating talks between the two sides.
