On Wednesday, 12 February 2025, Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, President of the Republic of Iraq, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, at al-Shatie Palace in Abu Dhabi.

At the start of the meeting, President Rashid expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s ongoing support for Iraq and its people since the change in Iraq, recognising the UAE’s steadfast commitment.

The discussions then focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for expanding cooperation in areas that benefit both nations. The two leaders sought ways to deepen their strategic partnership and further mutual interests.

They also addressed the regional situation, examining the challenges facing the Middle East. Both sides emphasised the importance of stronger coordination and support for efforts to strengthen security and stability, while aligning their positions at both regional and international levels.

Furthermore,  President Rashid reiterated Iraq's position on Syria, advocating for the Syrian people’s right to self-determination through a government that represents all its diverse communities and reflects the aspirations of the Syrian population. He also made clear that Iraq rejects any foreign interference in Syrian affairs.
