Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani.
The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, has expressed his appreciation
for the responsible and constructive step taken by the Iraqi parliament in
approving the amendment to the Federal General Budget Law No. (13) of 2023 of the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years 2023, 2024, and 2025, as per the text
of the amendment submitted by the Council of Ministers.
Bassim al-Awadi, the Spokesperson for the Iraqi government, stated in a press release that the approval of the amendment in line with the Council of Ministers’ text underscores the political stability and mutual understanding that characterise this phase.
He further noted that it reflects the strong cooperation between the government and the Iraqi parliament, ensuring continued efforts towards development, reconstruction, and reform. He affirmed that this momentum, once set in motion, will persist, with the government remaining committed to addressing challenges and problems responsibly, always prioritising Iraq’s supreme interests.
He added that, based on this amendment, the PM urges both the Kurdistan Regional Government, through its relevant institutions, and the Federal Ministry of Oil to immediately implement the amendment. This, he emphasised, is essential to optimally harness Iraq’s natural resources, particularly its oil wealth, ensuring that it serves as a stabilising factor and a driving force for further achievements in plans and programmes that fulfil the needs of the Iraqi people.
