Two Kurds Among Nobel Peace Prize Candidates

The Two Kurdish figures, Îlham Ehmed and Sherwan Sherwani, are nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.

Ilham Ahmed is a Kurdish politician from Syria and co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department the Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). Sherwan Sherwani is one of the Badinan prisoners in Badinan. He was arrested in October 2020 in Duhok. He is still in prison to this day.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded since 1901 and so far, 103 people and 27 institutions have received the award. 18 women are among the winners.
