PUK & ANKS delegations meet in Erbil.
Saadi Ahmed Pire, a member of the Political Bureau and Spokesman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met today, Tuesday 28th, January 2025, with a delegation from the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ANKS), led by Jadaan Ali, the head of the ANKS in the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting, attended by several members of the PUK’s Leadership Council, focused on the latest developments in Iraq, Kurdistan, and the broader region. Key topics included the situation in Syria, the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and Western Kurdistan, and how political forces are handling areas liberated from the control of the ISIS terrorist organisation.
Both sides agreed on the need to shape the future political, economic, military, and administrative landscape of Syria in a way that guarantees the rights and aspirations of all its communities, with particular emphasis on the legitimate rights of the Kurds. They stressed that achieving this requires unity in the ranks, positions, and discourse of the Kurdish political forces and parties in Western Kurdistan.
Jadaan Ali, for his part, commended the role of the PUK, highlighting its consistent support for the democratic and liberation struggle of the Kurds in Syria. He noted that this historic support has been instrumental in uniting Kurdish forces and bolstering their shared efforts, aimed at securing democratic and national rights.
