Six people were killed in two different Turkish drone attacks, the Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT)-Iraqi Kurdistan announced on Monday, 27 January 2025.
"Today, as a result of a Turkish drone attack, two civilians were killed," the CPT said in a statement.
At 11:30 AM, Turkish drones bombarded Shahe village, located in the Dinarta area of the Akre district, the Community Peacemaker Teams (CPT)-Iraqi Kurdistan said in a statement.
According to the statement, the victims were a married couple named Jafar Jalal Nepakhi, 58, and Teen Muhammad, 47. They were residents of the Bamishmish community who had gone to Shahe village with a few others for agricultural purposes.
In a different statement, the CPT said that four people were killed when a car was targeted by a Turkish drone. The attack occurred in Girdjan village, part of the Chwarqorna sub-district.
The statement said that at 3:20 PM, the drone struck a vehicle on the main road to Girdjan village in the Raparin area. As a result, four unidentified individuals were killed—two males and two females—and one person was injured when hit by shrapnel from the bombardment.
According to the CPT, there have been 720 casualties from Turkish bombardments and invasions in Iraqi Kurdistan since 1991; with 353 fatalities and 367 injuries reported.
