The joint committee of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) will meet again on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, to discuss the differences and grounds of disagreement between the two parties.

PUK Spokesperson Saadi Ahmed Pire informed the Kurdistani Nwe newspaper that the negotiation delegations of the PUK and the KDP will meet after the joint committee's work is completed.

Today's meeting is a technical discussion to identify and resolve differences and points of disagreement, according to Pire.

"The two sides' joint delegation is in charge of developing a responsible draft and finding answers to the various issues, which will eventually become a joint project," he said.

The PUK-KDP joint committee has previously met three times to create a draft for the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Kurdistan parliamentary elections were held in October of last year, and the Kurdistan Region is currently awaiting the formation of its new cabinet.

It is anticipated that the two victorious parties, the PUK and the KDP, will come to an agreement to form the next government because a number of parties have already stated that they will function as opposition parties in the parliament.
