The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) resume their meetings to discuss activating the parliament and forming the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
An informed source told PUKMEDIA that the negotiation delegations of the PUK and KDP are set to convene in the upcoming days to deliberate on measures to activate the Kurdistan Parliament and establish the new cabinet of the KRG.
The source indicated that the meeting is a continuation of previous meetings between the two parties, and that they will also address recent developments in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the region.
The negotiation delegations of the PUK and KDP convened twice last year, first on 30 November 2024 in Sulaymaniyah, and subsequently on 17 December 2024 at the Pirmam resort in Erbil Governorate. During these meetings, both parties concurred on the necessity to accelerate the formulation of a joint program to govern Kurdistan in the forthcoming phase, ensuring the preservation of the region's status and stability while safeguarding the rights and interests of citizens, including all communities. It was also decided that a joint committee would prepare a draft of this program for the next meeting.
