PUK Spokesperson: We Seek an Effective Government that Restores Public Trust

On Kurdistan Flag Day, the spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) expressed the hope that the nation would thrive under the shadow of its flag by establishing an efficient government and safeguarding all rights.

"We seek to establish an effective government that restores public trust and rectifies governance," stated PUK Spokesperson Saadi Ahmed Pire during the Kurdistan Flag Day ceremony at the PUK Political Bureau office in Erbil on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

"We hope that the nation will thrive under the shadow of its flag by establishing an efficient government and safeguarding all rights, the most important of which is the payment of salaries," he said.

The election for the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament took place on October 20, 2024, across four electoral constituencies, where the PUK secured major victories in all four constituencies, increasing both its vote share and its representation with 23 seats in the parliament.

Note* December 17 marks the Kurdish National Flag Day in the Kurdistan Region. In 2009, the Kurdistan Parliament designated December 17 as Kurdish National Flag Day, commemorating its first formal usage by the Republic of Kurdistan, also known as the Republic of Mahabad, on December 17, 1946.
