Iraqi Interior Ministry Denies Hosting Maher al-Assad

Ousted Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and brother Maher Al-Assad.

The Iraqi Interior Ministry denied that Maher al-Assad, the sibling of the ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, is present in Iraq.

Miqdad Miri, spokesperson for the Iraqi Interior Ministry, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that reports on social media regarding Maher al-Assad, brother of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, being in Iraqi territory are untrue.

"The reports circulating on social media regarding Maher al-Assad, the sibling of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, being present in Iraqi territory are untrue," he stated. 

Miri urged the media to exercise precision and caution in conveying news.
