Over 1,000 Corruption Cases Registered Annually in the Region

On Monday, December 9, 2024, the Kurdistan Region Integrity Commission disclosed that between 800 to 1,300 corruption cases are recorded annually in the Kurdistan Region.

Judge Ahmed Anwar, head of the Kurdistan Region Integrity Commission, announced at a news conference that the annual registration of corruption cases in the Region has risen to between 800 and 1300 cases.

"Compared to the last three years, there is increased progress and trust between citizens and official institutions with the Integrity Commission, resulting in a greater number of complaints and assistance in case submissions," he added.

He also stated that both the reporting and punitive phases of the investigation are executed, resulting in over 250 corruption cases being submitted to the courts each year."

"Similar to Baghdad, the Kurdistan Region ought to establish a court specifically for settling corruption cases," he stated.
