27th Galawezh International Festival Concludes with Awards Ceremony

Last day of Galawezh International Festival.
The 27th Galawezh International Festival, titled “For the Glory of Word, Galawezh Continues,” ended on its third day, Saturday, December 7, 2024, with handing out awards to the winners.
Dr. Ibtisam Ismail, President of Galawezh Centre, delivered the closing statement of the festival, stating: "We successfully wrapped up our festival, and Galawezh will forever serve as a platform for all. We express our gratitude to all participants and guests for their contributions."
“A total of 179 articles comprising poetry, research, and stories were showcased at this festival, and the evaluation committees designated the first, second, and third place winners,” she stated.
During the commencement of the awards ceremony, the Golden Galawezh Prize was awarded to Kurdish poet Jamal Ghambar, while the Kurdistan Golden Prize was bestowed upon Arab writer Waciny Laredj.
The first prize for poetry, research, and story writing was conferred upon the authors writing in the Badinani dialect, as follows:
The first prize for research went to Rebar Kurdo.
The first prize for the story went to Kahin Kani.
The first prize for poetry went to Milat Mohammed Muhsin.
The first, second, and third prizes for poetry, stories, and research were awarded as follows:
Research Award:
First Prize: Sarwat Abdullah; Second Prize: Shikar Wafa Mahmoud; Third Prize: Mohammed Nabi.
Story Award:
First Prize: Adel Qaderi; Second Prize: Suhaib Ali; Third Prize: Ranj Rasul Reza.
Poetry Award:
First Prize: Karim Sharif; Second Prize: Akram Hawas; Third Prize: Dilshad Kawani.
The 27th Galawezh International Cultural Festival, which kicked off last Thursday, December 5, 2024, concluded after three days, featuring several literary, artistic, and research events. The festival attracted 12 researchers from Kurdish, Persian, and Arab backgrounds.
