DPM & UAE Ambassador to Iraq meet in Erbil.

On Wednesday, 4th December 2024, Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with Abdullah Abdullah Matar Al-Mazrouei, the newly appointed United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Iraq, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting in Erbil, Qubad Talabani congratulated the new ambassador on his appointment and expressed his hope that the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE would flourish during his tenure.

He also commended the UAE Embassy and its consulate in the Kurdistan Region for their positive contribution to enhancing bilateral relations across various sectors.

The discussion focused on expanding trade ties between the two parties, with the Deputy Prime Minister highlighting significant opportunities for investment in agriculture and tourism in the Kurdistan Region. He encouraged Emirati investors and businesses to explore these opportunities for the mutual benefit of both sides.

Qubad Talabani also urged the UAE to offer the necessary support and facilities to traders from the Kurdistan Region. In response, the UAE Ambassador expressed his willingness to provide assistance to foster trade relations and facilitate visits to the UAE.

The Deputy Prime Minister further outlined his efforts in diversifying the Region's economic resources, developing agriculture and tourism, supporting youth employment and innovation, and transforming the Region’s institutions to digital platforms. He suggested that the Kurdistan Region could benefit from the UAE's successful experience in these areas and called for further aid and support.
