Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid emphasised the importance of expanding Iraq's relations with Russia across all sectors during his meeting with Mikhail Bogdanov, the Special Envoy of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, the Iraqi Presidency reported on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

The Iraqi President welcomed Bogdanov at the Baghdad Palace, where Bogdanov conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Iraqi Presidency stated that President Rashid expressed gratitude for the greetings from the Russian President, expressing his wishes for President Putin's good health and for the continuous success and prosperity of the friendly Russian people.

The statement also noted that the two sides discussed the nature of bilateral relations between the two countries during the meeting, alongside developments in regional and global settings, and the necessity of uniting efforts to foster peace and stability in the region. 

President Rashid emphasised the longstanding relations with Russia, which have spanned over 80 years, highlighting the need to enhance these ties to encompass energy, economy, technology, and investment in a manner that serves the paramount interests of both amicable countries.

The Special Envoy of the Russian President conveyed his nation's eagerness to broaden the scope of constructive collaboration with Iraq across multiple dimensions.
