Kirkuk Census

A member of the Kirkuk Provincial Council emphasised the importance of the general population census, particularly in Kirkuk Province, and stressed that every citizen from the disputed areas, regardless of where they live, must attend and participate in the census in their home city.

Dr Ahmed Fatih, a member of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, told PUKMEDIA: "We encourage citizens, especially those in Kirkuk, to return to their original areas and take part in the general population census."

He added: "It is crucial for every citizen to be present in their home city and participate in the census, presenting official documents to the census teams. Every citizen must appear in person before the census teams."

Mr. Fatih further said: "The presence of citizens in Kirkuk and other disputed areas is vital to affirm the Kurdish identity of these regions and to demonstrate the significance and status of the Kurdish people."

The general census in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region is set to take place on November 20, 2024. 120,000 census takers will be deployed across the Region, visiting households to collect responses to over 70 questions from the families they survey.
