Qubad Talabani: Mechanism Should be Created for PUK-Yazidis Coordination

Qubad Talabani, Head of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal, welcomed Mir (Prince) Hazim Tahsin Beg, Emir of the Yazidis, and his wife in Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah, reiterating the support of President Bafel and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) for the Yazidi community.

During the meeting on Saturday, November 9, 2024, Qubad Talabani emphasised that Mam Jalal's home remains a home for all Yezidis and conveyed President Bafel's sincere greetings and respect to the Yazidis.

Mir Hazim Tahsin and the visiting delegation commended President Mam Jalal's efforts in advocating for the Yazidi Kurds and expressed gratitude for the PUK and its leadership's comprehension of the Yazidis' struggles. Both parties consented to create a coordination mechanism between the PUK and the Yazidis.

Qubad Talabani emphasised the necessity of activating and enforcing the Yazidi survivors Law No. 8 of 2021, which was approved by the Iraqi Parliament, throughout the Kurdistan Region as well.

The wife of the Yazidis' Emir called on everyone to cooperate to fight against "hate speech" and they exchanged views on the matter.

All parties concurred on the significance of Yazidi involvement across various power sectors and the designation of specific representatives for the Yazidi community in governance roles in the Kurdistan Region. Consequently, Qubad Talabani deemed it essential to serve all communities in the forthcoming government.
