The Iraqi First Lady announced that it doesn't matter who will take the highest positions in the next Kurdistan Regional Government, but what matters is the appointment of appropriate individuals to suitable roles to serve the people.

"We must transform the authoritarian and discriminatory mindset into one of service, as the public is oblivious to which party occupies high governmental positions; rather, they prioritise who can effectively serve. Thus, political parties should initiate negotiations to establish a new government," stated Iraqi First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed at a press conference.

In response to a reporter's inquiry regarding the intentional targeting of Sulaymaniyah and the PUK by certain media outlets of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), she stated: "These channels have forfeited their integrity and are engaged in discrediting Sulaymaniyah. For instance, they shut down the headquarters of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) in Erbil yesterday and sent them to Sulaymaniyah to later inform Türkiye that the HDP has headquarters in Sulaymaniyah, so positioning that nation as an adversary of Sulaymaniyah. This is a poor attempt to undermine the peace of Sulaymaniyah."

"Numerous grievances regarding the government's performance exist; thus, the current treatment of our citizens and the authoritarian policies being implemented are inappropriate and must cease, paving the way for a government that prioritises serving the people," she said.

"Consequently, the positions do not matter to me; nonetheless, it is crucial to ascertain who will occupy these roles, as that individual may occasionally impede the service to residents, rather than the government or ministries,” added Ahmed.

The special and general vote of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections were held on October 18 and 20, 2024, where the PUK secured 23 out of 100 parliamentary seats with 409,548 votes in all four constituencies of the Kurdistan Region.
