PUK Spokesperson Saadi Ahmed Pire.
Saadi Ahmed Pire, Spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), announced that the Kurdish parties will soon start negotiations on forming the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
"Following the electoral process and the announcement of the results and their approval by the judiciary, negotiations between the parties to form a government will begin," Pire told a press conference on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
"The PUK has its own delegation and will start official talks with the parties to form a government in the near future," he added.
He said: "The PUK is in talks with all parties and considers it necessary to get their opinions to form a government, because our goal is to correct the course of governance and form an efficient government, thereby delivering the best services; thus, we must set aside everything and re-enter negotiations."
Regarding the distribution of positions and responsibilities, Pire said: "We will not assign positions through TV channels, but through dialogue and according to the election programmes of all parties."
The special and general vote of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections were held on October 18 and 20, 2024, where the PUK secured 23 out of 100 parliamentary seats with 409,548 votes in all four constituencies of the Kurdistan Region.
