Complaints Filed Against End Results of Elections Reach 41

The Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq (IHEC) announced that 41 complaints had been lodged over the end result of the sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections.

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, IHEC Spokesperson Jumana al-Ghalai informed PUKMEDIA that  the number of complaints lodged over the final results of the elections has reached 41, pointing out that the IHEC will send the complaints to the Judicial Board.

The IHEC announced the final results of the sixth term of Kurdistan parliamentary elections on October 30, 2024.

According to the law, after the announcement of the final results of the elections, parties, institutions and candidates, had three days to appeal the results of the elections and after that period, the Judicial Board of the IHEC must resolve the complaints within 10 days.

The special and general vote of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections were held on October 18 and 20, 2024, where the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) secured 23 out of 100 parliamentary seats with 409,548 votes in all four constituencies of the Kurdistan Region.
