198 Complaints Filed Against Elections Process

198 complaints have been filed by parties, lists, entities and candidates on the elections process and results and the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) must resolve these complaints within 10 days.

"198 complaints have been filed by parties, lists, entities and candidates on the election process and results and sent to the Judicial Board of the IHEC," the IHEC said in a statement on Friday, November 1, 2024.

The IHEC announced the final results of the sixth term of Kurdistan parliamentary elections on October 30, 2024.

According to the law, after the announcement of the final results of the elections, parties, institutions and candidates, have three days to appeal the results of the elections and after the complaints are filed, the Judicial Board will resolve them within 10 days.

The special and general vote of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections were held on October 18 and 20, 2024, where the PUK secured 23 seats with 409,548 votes in all four constituencies of the Kurdistan Region.
