The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, met with Steven Bitner, the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, in Erbil.

During the meeting, which included Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Head of the PUK's Relations Bureau, discussions centred on the situation in the Kurdistan Region following the elections, the Peshmerga issue, and the provision of services. President Bafel articulated the PUK's stance on forming the government, stating, "The PUK is committed to establishing a service-oriented and functional government that reflects the demands and aspirations of the people, and prevents any party from imposing its agenda or exploiting government institutions for personal gain."

President Bafel further stated, "With the support of citizens, we managed to end the authoritarianism and halt this detrimental rule. The next phase will focus on establishing justice and eradicating discrimination. I hope all parties will embrace these principles, as the future government will be one for the citizens, not a specific party."

On the topic of reforms within the Peshmerga and the reorganisation of forces into a national force that respects justice, President Bafel stated, "Any efforts in this regard that fall outside the agreements will be seen as a deviation from this national process. We hope everyone will act responsibly, and we greatly appreciate the support of our allies in achieving this goal."

Concerning the "My Account" project, the PUK President said, "This matter is settled, and we are focused on fulfilling the citizens' needs. All our efforts are for them, and within this context, we will work on nationalisation based on the law, which serves the interests of employees, not a particular party."
