PUK Secures 23 Seats in Kurdistan Parliament

The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has announced the final results of the sixth round of parliamentary elections. According to these results, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) received 409,548 votes across all four constituencies, securing 23 seats in the Kurdistan Parliament.
At a press conference on Wednesday, 30 October 2024, Judge Omar Ahmed, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, announced the final results of the sixth round of parliamentary elections, stating, "The votes have been counted meticulously and with the highest level of transparency."
“Approximately 41,000 personnel from the IHEC, comprising both staff members and graduates from universities and colleges, oversaw the election process,” stated Judge Omar.
Sulaymaniyah
In total, 626,244 valid votes were cast in Sulaymaniyah province. There are 25 seats designated for men, 11 seats allocated for women, and 2 seats for minorities, bringing the total to 38 seats.
The PUK received 257,359 votes in Sulaymaniyah province, securing 15 seats in parliament and making it the party with the highest vote count in the province.

Erbil
In Erbil province, a total of 669,273 valid votes were cast, with 22 seats designated for men, 10 for women, and 2 for minorities, resulting in a total of 34 seats.
The PUK secured 111,102 votes in Erbil, earning six seats in parliament.

Duhok
In Duhok province, a total of 548,150 valid votes were cast, with 16 seats allocated for men, 8 for women, and 1 for minorities, bringing the total to 25 seats.
The PUK received 28,557 votes in Duhok, securing one seat in parliament.
Vazhin Diwaly Ramadan received the highest number of votes in the Duhok Constituency.
Halabja
In Halabja province, a total of 38,936 valid votes were cast, with two seats allocated for men and one for women, resulting in a total of three seats.
Barzan Osman Muhammed received the highest number of votes in the Halabja Constituency.
The PUK garnered 12,530 votes in Halabja, earning one seat in parliament and becoming the province's top party.
On October 21, 2024, the commission announced the preliminary results of the elections, highlighting a significant victory for the PUK, which saw an increase in its vote count compared to the previous election.
On 20 October 2024, general voting for the sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections was held across all four constituencies, following the special voting that took place on 18 October 2024. The voter turnout reached 72%.
