PUK President: Congratulations on Victory, Towards Correcting Governance Course

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), shared a message, congratulating the people of Kurdistan Region on the success of the sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, stating: "We thank you for your enthusiastic participation in the electoral process and will step up our efforts towards correcting the wrong course of governance."

President Bafel's full message said:

Strugglers and proud relatives of martyrs
Our loved ones from all nationalities and communities
Members and supporters of all political forces

We thank you for your enthusiastic participation in the electoral process and the promotion of democracy in our Region. We appreciate the positive and democratic image you have given Kurdistan, and I hope our future efforts and services will repay your loyalty and support. The active engagement of the people and the return of voting spirit delight us because we have long believed in and we lead in defending and advancing democracy's cornerstones.

We would like to express our gratitude to the people of Kurdistan who have been with us in this phase of renewal of governance and the establishment of a just and service-oriented government. Voting for your PUK is a great honour for us and we are indebted to you. We assure you that we will step up our efforts towards correcting the wrong course of governance and with the support of God and you, this march for prosperity and services will reach its goal.

My proud PUK supporters and dear comrades in all departments

My sincere congratulations and profound admiration go to your hard work for the success, renewal, and further development of your PUK, which achieved a great victory in this election, and fortunately, our votes increased by about 200,000. I appreciate you for your concern and loyalty. This is a wonderful honour and a historical obligation to intensify our efforts to serve you and carry out better and more serious work for a more prosperous Kurdistan. We promise that the PUK will continue to revitalise and push forward our country's warm-blooded and creative youth to develop the party and manage our Region.

What pleases us is that in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja constituencies, the PUK has provided a favourable environment for all parties to freely campaign and be an important part of the success of the democratic process. Now that the process has been successfully completed, we are proud to have been an important part of the efforts to conduct an impartial election free from interference from the very start, unlike the failed attempts aimed at delaying and disrupting the process.

Proud people of Kurdistan and PUK loyalists 

The era of imposing one will is over and a new stage in the process of governance and management begins. Finally, the quest for renewal and justice has triumphed, and the important task begins today, which is to provide services, guarantee salaries, and strengthen legal institutions. We promise you that the PUK will honour its pledge to you and your votes.

We thank the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission and its staff, country representatives, observers, and internal forces for their important contributions to the success of the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament's electoral process and wish them success.
