The Head of the Media Board of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) declared that the PUK is the primary victor in the sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections, asserting its dominance in Halabja and Sulaymaniyah, and securing the second position in Erbil.

Latif Nerwayi, Head of the PUK Media Board, stated during his appearance on the 12 o'clock news segment of GK TV Channel: "The number of our seats has risen by 30-35% in this election, and preliminary results indicate that the PUK is the sole entity to have secured seats in all four provinces, demonstrating that the PUK is a national force."

"The PUK is the predominant force in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja, with no competition. We have achieved significant success in Koya and Balisan. The PUK is the predominant force in Garmian and Raparin, and its votes have markedly increased in Erbil and Duhok,” he stated.

"The success we have achieved is attributable to the strategies of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani in the election campaign. The PUK has solidified its standing in this election, with the rise in youth support contributing to its success. We inform our people of our victory," he added.

After six years, the general and special voting of the elections for the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament took place, where the special voting took place on October 18, 2024, and general voting took place on October 20, 2024. 

A total of 2,899,578 people, including general and special voters, were eligible to vote in the sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and according to the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), the voter turnout was 70%.
