The fourth campaign rally for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) List 129 was held on the evening of Tuesday, 8th October 2024, in the district of Kalar within the Garmian administration. The event was attended by Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, several members of the Political Bureau, candidates from the 129th list in the Sulaymaniyah constituency, and thousands of PUK supporters and citizens from Garmian.
The rally commenced with the anthem of List 129, followed by speeches from President Bafel Jalal Talabani, where he addressed the crowd, praising the struggle of the people of Garmian. He stated: "Garmian, which is filled with heroes and victims of Anfal, has been neglected by the government instead of being served. We owe you, so please give us the chance to repay this debt by heading to the ballot boxes and overthrowing this corrupt government with the votes of the heroic Garmian people."
President Bafel stated: "The KDP attempted to postpone the elections but failed; they are frightened of the electoral process because they cannot manipulate it." He added, "Only one party can truly serve Kurdistan, and that is the PUK. We regard all regions of Kurdistan equally, and our services extend to all four parts."
PUK President emphasised, "The Democratic Party is not truly democratic and is afraid of democracy, but this time we will put an end to them."
The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2024. The PUK is contesting with PUK List 129 and 172 candidates under the slogans "Correcting the Course of Governance" and "We Will End It."
