The second campaign rally aimed at introducing the candidates from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) List 129 for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections took place in Halabja province, attended by Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, alongside a large gathering of local residents.
In his address to the audience, Bafel Jalal Talabani stated: "Citizens of the esteemed Halabja province, the city of peace and the heart of Kurdistan, I extend my gratitude for your presence today in support of the PUK List 129. The PUK stands by its commitments, and we pledge to rectify the governance path, eliminate discrimination, and enhance the government system. With God’s assistance and your backing, we will bring an end to authoritarian rule."
President Bafel Jalal Talabani continued: "From this beloved city, we reach out to our people to convey that the PUK is the sole party fighting for all areas of Kurdistan. It is the only party that stands firm against the enemies of the Kurds. Indeed, it is the PUK, the party of the late President Mam Jalal, and we will destroy the weak authority in the Kurdistan Region."
President Bafel Jalal Talabani stated: "We possess fertile lands and abundant natural resources like oil and gas. Ask yourselves, are you truly content with the current situation? The party capable of steering change is the PUK. For many years, the prime minister and senior positions have been dominated by a single party, and the progress we’ve seen in the Kurdistan Region has been a result of the efforts of President Mam Jalal and the PUK."
"Enough of filling pockets and poor governance. This party refuses to pay employee salaries because it wants the money to flow into its own banks, from where it collects fees from you. However, by counting on your support, we will redirect governance towards a better path that truly serves the citizens. We promise to bring about this change. Isn’t it unjust that we lack clean drinking water? Isn’t it problematic that we face shortages of electricity and essential services? We will establish a fair and effective government that delivers the best services to our citizens," he added.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani also stated: "We are committed to following President Mam Jalal's approach to putting an end to the corruption and injustice you face. We will dismantle the police governance and the restrictions imposed on citizens. I reach out to the religious scholars to affirm that we do not believe in interfering with the affairs of mosques, nor do we wish to curtail your freedoms or distance you from places of worship, as the ruling party does. We will never do that. Our people are Muslim, and we will support the religious scholars, standing behind you in the pursuit of victory. With your backing for List 129, we will advance Kurdistan to a better future, support our youth, and encourage their creativity in serving the nation."
President Bafel Jalal Talabani declared: "From here, I challenge the leaders of the political parties and groups, including Masrour Barzani, to engage in a joint debate to discuss the current situation in the Kurdistan Region. We fear nothing. I urge the people of Halabja to vote for List 129, the list of President Mam Jalal and the PUK, to transform the system of governance and serve all citizens without discrimination."
