6 Iraqi blocs visit PUK bloc's office in Baghdad
Six Iraqi parliamentary blocs praised the policies of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), expressing their backing for the rational strategies of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
This occurred during a visit by the blocs—State of Law Coalition, Progress Party, al-Tasmim Coalition, al-Asas Coalition, Ishraqat Kanun, and Services—on Tuesday, 1 October 2024, to the office of the PUK bloc in the Iraqi parliament, where they were welcomed by Harem Kamal Agha, the head of PUK bloc, along with several of its members.
The PUK Bloc informed PUKMEDIA that representatives from the Iraqi parliamentary blocs expressed their support of the wise policies of the PUK, particularly those pursued by President Bafel Jalal Talabani, within the political framework of Iraq, which reflects the principles and philosophy of President Mam Jalal. The performance and involvement of the PUK bloc during the current and prior sessions of the Iraqi parliament were also acknowledged.
In the meeting, they also highlighted the importance of coordination and consensus on decisions and laws that directly affect the citizens of the Kurdistan Region and other Iraqi provinces, as the Constitution guarantees a decent life for all Iraqi citizens, regardless of their backgrounds.
It is noteworthy that the parliamentary blocs mentioned above hold a total of 98 seats in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, distributed as follows: State of Law with 33 seats, Progress with 37 seats, al-Tasmim with 5 seats, al-Asas with 3 seats, Ishraqat Kanun with 6 seats, and the Services Bloc with 14 seats.
