On Monday, September 30, 2024, Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, Member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received the Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev at the headquarters of the PUK Political Bureau in Erbil.
Rasul presented the PUK's position on political developments in the region, as well as the current situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, during a discussion attended by Maxim Rubin, Russia's Consul General in Erbil.
He underscored that the PUK's message on the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is a legitimate one, as the PUK seeks to end the authoritarian rule and correct the course of governance in the region.
"We are optimistic about our ability to achieve this as the current electoral law is more transparent and the electoral process is more fair," Rasul said.
Rasul also reiterated that the Kurdistan Region needs an effective parliament more than ever and therefore, the electoral process must go without impediments to restore the region's strength both domestically and globally.
