The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) wants to end authoritarian governance and corruption in the Kurdistan Region, urging people to realign the power balance and eradicate the wrong course of governance via their votes on election day. A candidate for the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament asserts: "The people want change and services to the extent of overthrowing this authoritarian rule."

"With the support of God and the people, we will overthrow the corrupt and filthy authority," PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani said during the inauguration carnival for the electoral campaign of the PUK List 129.

Only the PUK can correct the course of governance

Burhan Abdulrahman Mustafa, candidate No. 17 of the PUK List 129 in Sulaymaniyah constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "The Kurdish people all know that only the PUK can correct the course of governance and no other party has that ability."

"As President Bafel stated, this government was not the people's, but a family government, self-imposed and pursuing an authoritarian policy; this government policy is neither for the people of Kurdistan nor in the people's interest," he continued.

He further stated that the people of Kurdistan have made many sacrifices for freedom, but unfortunately there is no freedom as this government belongs only to the yellow zone.

It is PUK's duty to put an end to this self-imposed authority

Fahima Sabir, candidate No. 3 of the PUK List 129 in Erbil constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "Change and service can be done by a party that has emerged from the people and is formed from within the people, and that party is the PUK, whose goal is for the upcoming cabinet to be a service-oriented cabinet."

She further stated: "The people of Kurdistan seek governmental reform to the degree of overthrowing the current administration, as they have endured significant hardships over the past 17 years under the premiership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), especially during the current cabinet, where open expression of dissenting opinions has been largely suppressed, especially in Erbil and Duhok."

"Therefore, it is the duty of the PUK to end this authoritarian rule," she added.

The PUK will bring about a service government

Halima Fakhri Qadir, candidate No. 11 of PUK List 129 in Duhok constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "Forming a service-oriented government for the future of our region can solely be achieved by the PUK; therefore, it is essential that everyone votes for their party, the PUK, to end corrupt governance."

"If the PUK had held the premiership, even temporarily, in previous cabinets, it would have served the people without bias," she added.

"People must support the PUK candidates and re-establish a balance of power in our region," she said.

The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2024. The PUK is contesting with PUK List 129 and 172 candidates under the slogans "Correcting the Course of Governance" and "We Will End It."
