Shalaw Kosrat Rasul, the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) List 129 in Erbil Constituency, announced that the PUK will end this failed government when it takes over power.
In a speech that he delivered at the beginning of the campaign for the sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary election, Rasul stated: "It is obvious to everyone that the current governance in Kurdistan has created a failed authoritarian government that does not listen to anything, does not work with the demands of citizens and has sacrificed people's lives to its injustice and autocracy."
"Only a genuine national force like the PUK can prevent this failed form of governance that has led to many miseries, such as salary cuts and lack of services for the people of the Kurdistan Region," he said.
"We want to carry out a civil and democratic revolution with the help of God and citizens' votes to stand against the oppression and injustice that our region has faced thanks to the failed government," he added.
"We will no longer allow the citizens of the Kurdistan Region to become victims of a group that has brought the Kurdistan Region to this difficult stage. We promise to reorganise all institutions of the region to meet the demands of the people of the Kurdistan Region without discrimination to ensure the rights of all and ensure that all benefit from basic services equally," he continued.
"The PUK has proved in the past that it has served the people of the Kurdistan Region without discrimination whenever it has been in power and will continue to do so in the future."
Furthermore, he stated, "We promise that when the PUK takes over, we will not allow any form of discrimination and will not compromise one region for another. We will engage in serious negotiations in Baghdad to revitalise the economic sector and advocate for the fundamental rights of our people in accordance with the constitution."
"We will end this failed government with your votes."
The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2024. The PUK is contesting with PUK List 129 and 172 candidates under the slogan of "Correcting the Course of Governance and "We Will End It."
