DPM Talabani: Elections Will be Held on Schedule

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, announced that the Kurdistan parliamentary elections will be held on schedule and called for the election campaigns and the process to be free from tension.
"The sixth term of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections will be held on schedule, and our message is to have a clean and fair election, with election campaigns held free from tensions," Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, told a news conference on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Concerning the salary issues with Baghdad and the salary distribution in the Kurdistan Region, he stated that "good steps have been taken to address the salary issue" and that the Economic Council of both the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have convened for this aim.
"Today, payments have been deposited into the KRG account; we only need a bit more to facilitate salary distribution," he stated, additionally disclosing that a delegation from the Kurdistan Region is set to visit Baghdad to address the pensioner issues.
Regarding the census in the Kurdistani regions outside the Kurdistan Region's administration, DPM Talabani said: "The census will end the injustice against the Kurds in these areas; the census must be conducted in a scientific manner and devoid of political influence."
