Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Andrew Beasley, British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region at Dabashan, Sulaymaniyah.

The meeting highlighted the need to foster relationships and enhance coordination between the two parties while protecting the highest interests. 

The meeting deliberated on the overall situation in the Kurdistan Region. President Bafel presented the policy and strategy of the PUK addressing all relevant matters, saying: "We adopt a national perspective and consider the relevant requirements of the situation. Our objective is to create a fair and service-oriented system of governance that safeguards the rights of citizens. This is everyone's aspiration, and any form of discrimination in service provision and authoritarianism in management must be ended."

The discussion also addressed the resolution of the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad and the endeavours to achieve a favourable result. Both parties agreed that the Constitution and genuine partnership should serve as the foundation for resolving the issues while ensuring the protection of the rights of all parties involved.
