Rafaat Abdullah, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan's (PUK) Political Bureau, says that the current government discriminates heavily between regions and has monopolised all sectors for one party, while emphasising that the PUK is fully prepared for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections in their sixth term.
Abdullah also clarified the political situation, governance, and elections at his organisational meetings with the Association of Veteran Peshmergas and several constituencies in Sulaymaniyah and stated that the PUK is making significant preparations for the elections in order to effect major changes in the governance process and people's lives.
"The current government discriminates heavily against regions and has monopolised all sectors for one party," he continued. "Hence, the PUK's victory in this election will bring about change because it aims to correct the path of governance and form a service government."
Furthermore, Abdullah cited the problems that cause salary delays, stating: "The salary list is being altered and lacks consistency with the federal government's lists, resulting in issues. This is due to the party that has taken control of this government and is using it for their own narrow party interests, transforming it into an authoritarian and monopolistic ruling body."
On the final note, he said: "We will work together as a team to win the elections and finally improve the situation because the PUK's main goal is to correct the course of governance and form a service and just government in the region."
