Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with Anil Bora Inan, the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, to discuss the diplomatic ties between the Kurdistan Region and Türkiye.

At the meeting convened in Erbil on Tuesday (September 3, 2024), which was attended by Daban Shadala, the Deputy Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and Erman Topçu, the Consul General of Türkiye in the Kurdistan Region, Talabani congratulated the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador and wished him success in his mission.  

During the discussion, Türkiye’s diplomatic ties with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region were deliberated. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the need to enhance cooperation in a constructive manner across several domains and highlighted the need to address concerns, such as the granting of Turkish airspace access to Sulaymaniyah International Airport, through negotiations and mutual understanding. 

Furthermore, Prashant Pise, the Indian Ambassador to Iraq, visited Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani to farewell him as his mission came to an end.

Talabani expressed appreciation to India for their support in arranging the transportation of students to India and offered his best wishes for the Ambassador's upcoming assignment.

"The Indian Ambassador to Iraq, Prashant Pise, significantly contributed to enhancing Indian relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region," stated Talabani.
