The Leadership Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) convened a meeting in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to deliberate on the most recent political advancements in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the region.
Following the meeting, the PUK Leadership Council issued a statement that said:
Under the supervision of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani, the PUK Leadership Council convened a meeting in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to deliberate on the most recent political advancements in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the region.
The meeting highlighted the PUK's extensive and candid discussion of correcting the course of governance and shifting the balance of power in Kurdistan.
PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani initially highlighted the political landscape in Kurdistan and Iraq, as well as the PUK's approach towards them. He particularly detailed the significant accomplishments of our continuously expanding diplomatic ties at the Iraqi, Kurdistan Region, and international levels, which have been crucial achievements for our people.
The President of the PUK emphasised: "The triumph of our PUK and the Kurdish people in successfully securing the position of governor of coexistence, prosperity, and services in Kirkuk, as well as our involvement and collaboration in the administration of Mosul, is a significant achievement. It is essential that we strive to disseminate this sense of triumph across Kurdistan and Iraq."
Furthermore, he underlined: "These triumphs are the outcome of our resolute will and solidarity. We must utilise them to the advantage of our citizens and enhance their quality of life and livelihoods."
President Bafel assured the Kurdish people that they will make the policy of correcting the course, restoring the balance of power, and establishing a robust government a tangible reality.
The PUK Leadership Council's meeting also deliberated on the present state of affairs in Kurdistan, particularly the significant delay in salary that has greatly affected the lives and livelihoods of the people. The meeting noted its commitment to resolving this matter and stressed the need for the negotiating team of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government to adhere to the Federal Court's ruling on salary priorities without tainting it with political disputes.
The meeting, held at the PUK Political Bureau headquarters in Erbil, was centered on creating a peaceful and civilized environment for the elections, allowing all individuals to effectively communicate their political agendas and messages to the general public, particularly the younger voter base.
The meeting also endorsed the strong determination of PUK supporters in Erbil and throughout Kurdistan to consistently and judiciously engage in President Mam Jalal's party's democratic endeavor to end the monopoly of power and restore accountable governance that prioritizes the welfare of the people without discrimination.
Furthermore, it emphasised that the PUK is eager for a democratic struggle and, in pursuit of this objective, is prepared for a transparent and fair election. It firmly maintains that the holy principles of the PUK must never be compromised and regards them as an absolute boundary.
The meeting motivated all people to unite in pursuit of the significant triumph of the PUK in Kurdistan and restore the confidence of citizens.
