Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, the Head of the Relations Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), welcomed Steven Bitner, the newly appointed US Consul General, in Erbil on August 28, 2024.

Darbaz Kosrat hoped that the US CG would provide assistance and support to the Kurdistan Region and civil society in undertaking his new responsibility to enhance diplomatic ties, uphold human rights, and foster more collaboration with the Peshmerga forces.
 
They deliberated about the political landscape in the Kurdistan Region and its international connections with Baghdad and neighboring countries. They considered it imperative for the international community and diplomatic representatives to collaborate and monitor the conduct of fair elections that precisely reflect the desires and expectations of the citizens.
