Over 700 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from a camp in Duhok have successfully returned to their homes in the Sinjar district, while the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displaced has confirmed that the process of registering displaced families who choose to return to their homes is ongoing.

According to a press statement obtained by PUKMEDIA, the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displaced reported that 732 IDPs who were living at Isan Camp in Duhok province have now returned to their homes in Sinjar district in Nineveh province.

As per the statement, the IDPs who have returned from the camp would receive financial and humanitarian aid, as well as essential resources, to help them establish themselves in their home region.

The statement also pointed out that the employees of the Ministry of Migration and Displaced are consistently documenting the names of families who express their desire to return to their residences voluntarily to facilitate the completion of the return procedure.

The Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displaced has formulated a comprehensive strategy to resolve the problem of IDPs. All IDPs in the Kurdistan Region are required to repatriate to their original residences. To encourage their return, the government will offer various incentives, including the reconstruction of their areas and covering the expenses associated with their return. Additionally, each family will receive a sum of 4 million Iraqi dinars along with several other services.
